Commando Joe's delivers character education rooted in the RESPECT framework. What we do

Too many schools are under pressure to improve behaviour, reduce exclusions and support pupil wellbeing, but without a structured approach those efforts are inconsistent and hard to evidence. Character education is often treated as an afterthought rather than a foundation.

Commando Joe's changes that. For over a decade they have worked with primary and secondary schools across the UK to embed character education as a core part of school life. Commando Joe's is built on the evidence-based RESPECT framework, four age-appropriate programmes, and a team of experienced education professionals and role models. Together, they give schools a structured, measurable approach to building the skills young people need to succeed in and out of the classroom. From in-class missions and active play to outdoor enrichment and leadership programmes, every element is designed around the realities of school life and aligned to what Ofsted expects to see.

About the RESPECT framework

Through our RESPECT framework and team of inspirational role models and education professionals, we work with schools and teachers to build a syllabus of character-based learning. Split between the classroom and outdoor activities, our approach helps pupils grow into resilient, confident young people.

Deliver character education on the go

The Commando Joe's app puts mission delivery, pupil assessment, and progress reporting in one place, designed for real classroom and outdoor use. Teachers can access missions on any device, with offline capability built in for outdoor sessions where connectivity is limited. The app guides staff through each mission with structured content, class videos, and reflection tools, building confidence even for those new to character education.

Progress and results feed into a clear reporting dashboard, giving school leaders and teachers meaningful evidence of character development to share with governors and Ofsted. It reduces staff workload while raising the quality and consistency of character education delivery across the school.
